I trust God has blessed America and will continue to do so. But my faith leads me to ask veterans of all wars post WWII: Is this present state of perpetual war really serving to protect the constitution and the territory we know of as the United States of America?
Should not America be a key player in solving the huge humanitarian and refugee problem and discontinue being part of the problem? However, war seems to be good for business these days.
War is terrorism. A civilized society values ideas, principles and rights, over the brute force of killing and subjugating and intimidating people. One way to defeat terrorism is to honor our own constitution and respect the rule o f law and human rights.
America has already defeated, albeit in name only, a terrorist group without the use of arms or force. That group we know as the Ku Klux Klan. In the name of racial and religious superiority, the Klan, acting out of fear, would lynch African Americans after the civil war for decades essentially spreading terror amongst African Americans preventing full citizenship and equality. In turn halting progress toward a more perfect union with equal rights. Until Americans learn to shed the shackles of our own intolerance, bigotry and prejudice, we will continue to struggle in achieving a more perfect union.
Does not the perpetuation of war on illegal premises degrade the sacrifice and service of veterans who gave life and limb so certain people could profit from war and no resolution come of the conflict? No nation can afford to follow an infrastructure such as the ‘bangsters’ have devised.
It is time to recognize that we are all in this together. And equally wise to shed some of our collective armor and recognize that national security is directly linked to respecting each citizens’ civil rights and for the rule and spirit of the law to be upheld to its fullest. Is it not time we as Americans recognize this unhealthy trend of the non-accountability of militarism. Making exceptions to the illegality of war?
Honor Article 6 of the Constitution. End this barbaric war!
